The September meeting of the Silicon Valley Engineering Council was held Monday, September 11, 2000. The meeting was called to order at 7:08 PM by Dave Licata, President.

In the area of fund raising/development, Sam Haddad has offered to assist the SVEC.
Felicita identified the need for projects to provide focus for fund development. There was agreement on this, with the next council meeting to serve as a presentation time to encourage new activities and projects. (In support of this, a list of new project concepts from the May meeting was compiled and distributed by e-mail following the meeting.)
A motion was made to establish a committee for projects. This motion was amended to make it a subcommittee under the special events committee. The amendment was passed 6-1, and the amended motion passed unanimously.
Dave, Rendee and Cliff presented a powerpoint show about SVEC. They also discussed a meeting with the editor of the San Jose Business Journal regarding press coverage and advertising. The was general agreement that this type of exposure is a good idea and that further discussions and specific proposals should be continued.
Dave volunteered to discuss the program assignments of each director to contact five societies.
The meeting was adjourned at about 9:15 PM.
