Minutes of SVEC Council Meeting May 23, 2001

Cliff Monroe called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM, as Dave Licata is absent. He also had good news that Dave is recovering well. Dave thanked Cliff and everyone at SVEC for the thoughts and prayers through his illness.

The attendance sheet is on the page following these minutes.

Nabil Ibrihim reported on the meeting with Jay Pinson and Sam Haddad as the Advisory Committee. He stated that they all felt SVEC must go to a different level, changing in scale and in kind. We need to define goals that are needed and supported. We need to move into companies and societies that want to invest in us, as we will need major resources and funds, about $300,000 for stability. He identified that we need a paid staff of President and Secretary, as a minimum, and a regular office. We need a business plan. He wishes to do this with the new president, and could put together such a plan over the next six months to one year.

Nabil indicated he needs our approval to proceed. Without making any formal motion or allocating any funds, we agreed and provided that approval. He also needs one or two of us to work with them. He identified that the three committees, Fund Raising, Strategic Planning, Advisory Board need to work closely on this. Of primary importance, SVEC needs clear
