Last year, the Piedmont Middle School Science Fair in San Jose was a huge success with over 800 students participants and over 1000 people attending. The community loved the science fair and want it back again. We would like to duplicate last years science fair and we like you to help and provide your expertise in giving classes to families. You would present two classes of 50 minutes each with no more than 30 students in each class.
We are very open to the type of class or talk you would want to give. This is a science family night with both parents and their children. The average age at our school is 12. The students have 3 years of science. Every classroom has a Macintosh or PC computer and a VCR hooked to a monitor. We can also get other supplies, like microscopes, if needed.
The fair begins at 5:00 pm with a free dinner for presenters. First session is at 6:10 pm and the second session is at 7:10 pm. Several student science projects are on display from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
If you like to help us, please contact Mel Ausman at 408-923-1945 (day) or 408-923-2358 (evenings), or email at mausman @ telis.org

Desmond Q Llewelyn
007 Gadget Engineer
The actor who played the engineering gadget expert Q in almost all the James Bond films died in December 1999. In the latest Bond film a new engineer character was introduced by the name of R. Bond film producers had felt that actor Desmond Llewelyn, who played Q, would either pass away or retire before the next 007 film came to be made.
The cars designed by Q were equipped with ingenious defensive weaponry and provided safety systems that ensured that James Bond would live to play in the next 007 film. Karen Hoppe of the Microwave Products Digest said that Qs designs provided spectacular protection against damage of any kind and safety measures beyond imagination. In her eyes Mr. Lllewelyns portrayal of the character Q provided inspiration for thousands of engineers to duplicate or improve these gadgets and make them part of everyday life.
